Rhythm and blues, often abbreviated to R&B nowadays, is a genre of popular African Caribbean music that originated in the 1930s. The term was originally used by record companies to describe recordings marketed predominantly to urban African Americans, at a time when urban, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy, insistent beat was becoming more popular. At the time of the depression in America, R&B reflected reflected human uncertainty, as ethic minorities had nothing to turn to.
Personally, I had chosen this genre for the music magazine because its one of my favourite genres and i enjoy listening to this type of music. Because I enjoy listening to this type of music, naturally I would enjoy reading about artists who produce this music. Furthermore, the lyrics behind the songs are really good and can be a way to reflect about them and others, as it inspires real life situations. R&B is a way of expressing one's feelings and emotions.
